About Starbase Phoenix

Starbase Phoenix is a chapter of the United Federation of Planets Internationale! UFPI is a Star Trek and Science Fiction fan club which has been serving fans for 10 years! Starbase Phoenix serves as home to those UFPI members who are not currently assigned to a chapter.

Whether you enjoy Star Trek, Star Wars, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, The X-Files, or any of the countless other universes in the Science Fiction genre, you'll find something of interest in Starbase Phoenix.

We are a virtual chapter, which means that we are not tied to one specific geographic area. We encourage those that live in the same regions to attend conventions and activities together....or to possibly start their own chapters. However, members who live in remote places, or do not wish to join another chapter, are welcome to make Starbase Phoenix their permanent home. This station is also ideal for international members who do not yet have a chapter in their area.

We facilitate interaction among members through a listserve where we share stories, TV and movie reviews, costuming tips and more.

Where does the name "Starbase Phoenix" come from?

Ten years ago, in 1995, a group of sci-fi fans met up in San Jose, Ca to embark on a new adventure. Unhappy with the status of the national organization they belonged to at that time, they aimed to found a new group in fandom. That new organization was the United Federation of Planets Internationale. Just like the mythical creature called the Phoenix, these members rose from the ashes of disappointment to start anew. As is such, the founding chapters of UFPI were given the honorific designation of "Phoenix Fleet" chapters.

This installation is a special chapter administered by the Chief of Operations for UFPI. Due to the station's direct link to UFPI and the Admiralty Board, the chapter was designated as Starbase Phoenix SS-001.
